Glass Structures Designed for Education, Engagement, and Public Use

Arcadia GlassHouse partners with architects, landscape designers, facilities teams, and institutional clients to design and build custom glass greenhouse structures for public and commercial environments. Our work spans educational campuses, botanical gardens, hospitality venues, retail settings, and civic spaces. Every project is approached with the same commitment to structural integrity, material quality, and architectural precision that defines our residential work, scaled and specified for the demands of daily public use.

Built for the Demands of Public Environments

Commercial and institutional greenhouses operate under conditions that residential structures simply do not face. High occupancy, variable climate exposure, accessibility requirements, and long-term durability requirements all shape how a structure needs to be designed and built.
These are considerations we build into the design from the beginning. Structural load requirements, glazing performance, thermal management, and material longevity are all evaluated in the context of how the space will be used, by how many people, and over the life of the structure.

Structural and Material Specifications

All commercial projects are built on our aluminum framing systems, engineered to meet and exceed applicable snow and wind load standards with customization available for regional code requirements.

Glazing options include:

  • 3/16″ tempered glass for maximum clarity and light transmission
  • 7/8″ insulated double-pane tempered glass for superior thermal performance
  • 8mm multi-wall polycarbonate for lightweight durability and efficient light diffusion
  • 16mm five-wall polycarbonate for high insulation in cold or high-exposure climates
  • Hybrid configurations combining glass sidewalls with polycarbonate roofing

Environmental systems can be fully integrated at the design stage, including:

  • heating and cooling systems
  • ridge and side ventilation
  • supplemental grow lighting
  • automated irrigation

Structural components are designed to meet applicable building codes while maintaining a refined architectural presence appropriate for public installations.

How We Work with Project Teams

We understand that commercial projects involve multiple stakeholders, extended timelines, and detailed documentation requirements. Arcadia GlassHouse is structured to support that process. We work directly with architects and landscape designers during the specification phase, provide engineering drawings for permitting and review, and coordinate with facilities and construction teams through fabrication and installation.

Our team stays involved from initial concept through project completion, ensuring that structural engineering, glazing selection, environmental systems, and architectural details are all aligned with the broader goals of the project.
